I dropped in on the Red Cross center today and donated my 23rd pint of blood. The BP came in at a healthy 122/80. Pulse was 66. Temp was 98.4. Iron was 14.4. Not a bad checkup.
On a previous occasion when I was having blood taken the lab tech told me she was from Transylvania (true story). This seemed fitting, as the first time I ever gave blood was on October 31 (in 1985, for the record).
Isn't 80 the upper end for normal on Diastolic?
ReplyDeleteEighty is the upper end for the healthy range of diastolic.
ReplyDeleteThe normal measured values for a resting, healthy adult human is about 120 mmHg systolic and 80 mmHg diastolic (120/80 mmHg).
A diastolic (resting) below 60 is an indicator for hypotension; a person with this number is close to being in a state of shock.
A diastolic above 80 is an indicator for pre-hypertension (some risk).
If above 90 it is stage 1 hypertension (risky), and if above 100 it is stage 2 hypertension (very risky).
